Know the target

Wood source

Static trees

Give Wood but never change appearance. Each tree has a temporary shared supply; once it is empty, another hit tells you there is no wood left.

Wood source

Wood piles

Contain 60–100 Wood. Their model moves through visible wear stages and disappears when the final Wood is collected.

Tool effectiveness

Four melee tools can gather from trees and resource nodes. The values below are the current authoritative amount removed or awarded by one accepted hit; attack cadence still changes how quickly those hits arrive.

ToolStatic treeWood pileOre nodeTree cadence
Rock1, 0, repeat7 Wood2 resources1.95 seconds
Stone Hatchet1, 0, repeat7 Wood2 resources0.90 seconds
Metal Hatchet1 every hit10 Wood3 resources0.90 seconds
Pickaxe1, 2, repeat20 Wood6 resources2.00 seconds

Why can a valid tree hit show no item? The Rock and Stone Hatchet share a per-tree low-tier sequence that starts with 1 Wood and then alternates 0 and 1. The swing and impact still count even on the zero-reward step.

Read depletion

  1. 1

    Full

A dynamic node begins above three quarters of its total supply.

  2. 2

    Worn

The node changes model after falling to three quarters or less.

  3. 3

    Damaged

A second visual change appears at half supply or less.

  4. 4

    Critical

At one quarter or less, only the final portion remains. Depletion removes the node shortly after the last successful hit.

Static trees are the exception: their model and collider stay unchanged at every stage. If a tree stops paying out, move on instead of reading its silhouette.

Reset and replacement rules

Tree resetFive minutes after that tree's first accepted hit. Later hits do not extend the timer, and the tree does not disappear.
Node replacementThe current authored spawner delay is 60 seconds after depletion. A replacement can appear at another valid point and may take longer if placement must retry.

A safer gathering run

  • Leave open backpack space before the first swing
  • Use the Stone Hatchet over the Rock when speed matters
  • Read a node's wear before committing to a risky position
  • Move on when a static tree reports that it is empty
  • Bank valuable ore before greed extends the route
  • Keep enough Wood for shelter and a respawn point

A full backpack does not consume ungranted node resources, but the time spent swinging still exposes you. Make room before harvesting rather than sorting inventory beside a node.
